It is my pleasure to announce that the program for the 45th Annual Meeting of the Husserl Circle is now available on the conference website. The meeting, to be held at Dartmouth College, May 28-31 (Wednesday through Saturday), 2014, is co-sponsored by the Leslie Center for the Humanities and the Philosophy Department. A Husserl and Phenomenology Exhibit will also be held at the Baker-Berry library during the conference and the entire Spring 2014 quarter. Special thanks to the Husserl Archives Leuven for generously providing access to scans of various manuscripts and photographs.

The conference begins May 28th in the morning and ends at 5pm on Saturday, May 31st. Papers will be made available online on the conference website 2 weeks prior to the event.

As mentioned already, Hanover is easily accessible by bus (Dartmouth Coach) from Boston Logan & Boston South Station (2.5 hrs) and NY Yale Club/Grand Central Station (4.5 hrs). I have made arrangements with two hotels in town (the Hanover Inn and Six South Street Hotel) for reduced conference rates.

Secretary's Letter

The 44th annual meeting of the Husserl Circle held at the University of Graz this past June was an immense success. Special thanks are in order to Convenors Sonja Rinofner-Kreidl and Harald Wiltsche, who did a superb job of assembling a first-rate program and attending to the every need of the many members and friends of the Circle in attendance. The level of presentation and discussion was once again very high.

At the Business Meeting in Graz the members voted to accept Hanne Jacobs invitation to host the 2016 meeting at Loyola University, Chicago and Panos Theodoro’s invitation to host the 2017 meeting at the University of Crete, Greece. The 2015 meeting will be convened by Mirja Hartimo at the University of Helsinki, Finland.

The next meeting of the Husserl Circle, convened by Smaranda Aldea, will take place at Dartmouth College, May 28-31 (Wednesday through Saturday), 2014. A letter with preliminary information from Dr. Aldea is below.

With best wishes,
Burt Hopkins

Hanover is a lovely town in the beautiful Upper Connecticut River Valley. The buses are very nice, WI-FI equipped, and the final destination is Dartmouth/the Hanover Inn. I have made arrangements with two hotels in town (the Hanover Inn and Six South Street Hotel) for reduced conference rates. The hotels are very close to campus (2-minute walk).

I will soon create a conference website with updates and information. I would like to thank Dartmouth’s Leslie Center for the Humanities for their most generous support of the event. There will also be a Husserl exhibit sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Libraries and a reception catered by Hanover Inn’s exquisite Pine restaurant.
