2027: Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna (Italy)

Dear members of the Husserl Circle,

As previously announced, the 56th Annual Meeting of the Husserl Circle will be held in the city of Bologna, Italy, under the auspices of the Dipartimento di Filosofia of the Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, from May 18 to May 21, 2027. The conference will be held as a traditional in-person meeting.

We invite all those interested in participating to submit either:

  1. a full paper prepared for a 30-minute presentation (between 3,900 and 4,500 words) accompanied by a short abstract of about 150 words, or
  2. a substantial abstract of about 500 words outlining the paper’s main argument and including relevant bibliography.

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] no later than February 1, 2027. Decisions will be communicated by March 1, 2027.

We also encourage participants to indicate whether they would like to serve as commentators on a paper, and to share the topics or areas of interest in which they would be willing to comment.

The meeting will take place in the Giorgio Prodi Lecture Hall, located within the historic monumental complex of San Giovanni in Monte, at Piazza San Giovanni in Monte 2, in the heart of Bologna. Formerly the refectory of the monastery of the Canons Regular of the Lateran, the hall—with its magnificent sixteenth-century fresco by Bartolomeo Cesi—is one of the most beautiful and representative historic venues of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna. It is approximately a 14-minute walk from the Department of Philosophy, also located in Bologna’s historic city centre.

Further information about the venue is available on the University of Bologna website. The location can also be viewed on Google Maps.

Bologna is readily accessible by air and high-speed rail and is internationally renowned for its historic university, its remarkably preserved medieval centre, and its rich cultural and gastronomic traditions.

Further information concerning transportation, accommodation, dining, and other points of interest in and around Bologna will be provided in due course.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to Bologna in May 2027.

The Convenors,
Emanuele Mariani, Giuliana Mancuso, Sebastiano Galanti Grollo
